A 47-year-old woman from Wrexham has tragically died following a collision that occurred during a police pursuit on Monday, March 24. The incident took place shortly after 9.30 pm between Belgrave Road and Percey Road, Hightown, when a silver Mercedes fleeing from the police collided with a Toyota car.
The woman, who sustained serious injuries, was transported to Stoke Hospital along with a man who was also in the Toyota. Despite the best efforts of medical professionals, the woman passed away on Wednesday, March 26. The man continues to receive treatment for life-changing injuries. The woman’s family is being supported by specially trained officers.
The two men occupying the Mercedes fled the scene following the crash. In connection with the incident, five individuals have been arrested:
•A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
•A 20-year-old woman, two men aged 37, and a 50-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
The 22-year-old man and the 20-year-old woman have since been released on conditional bail. However, the two older men remain in custody and are being interviewed by detectives.
North Wales Police are actively searching for a second man who fled the scene and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
Detective Chief Superintendent Sian Beck said:
“Our deepest sympathies are with the woman’s family at this incredibly sad and difficult time, who are receiving support from specialist officers. We continue to follow firm lines of enquiry to locate a second man who left the scene, and I would like to hear from anyone who can assist with our investigations, to ensure those responsible are brought to justice.
“I would also like to thank those who have already spoken to officers, your information has been invaluable to our investigation.”

The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) has confirmed it has received a referral from North Wales Police regarding the incident. A spokesperson stated:
“We received a referral from North Wales Police yesterday (Tuesday) in relation to this incident. The referral will be assessed before we decide if any further action is required by us.”
Investigations are ongoing.
