Two teenagers have been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a double stabbing on Stockport Road in Manchester this afternoon (Friday, 25 April).
Emergency services were called to the busy stretch near the junction with Kirkmanshulme Lane at around 12.30pm following reports of a stabbing. Greater Manchester Police (GMP) confirmed that a 17-year-old and an 18-year-old male were found with serious injuries consistent with a knife attack.
Both were transported to hospital by paramedics. Their current condition is understood to be serious, though not life-threatening.
In a statement issued this afternoon, GMP confirmed that no arrests have yet been made and an investigation is now underway.
Detective Inspector Geoff Machent from GMP’s North Manchester division said:
“We know that news of an incident of this nature will be concerning, especially owing to the ages of those involved. Extensive work is ongoing to identify and locate suspects, and we are working with a range of specialist partners to ensure the victims are safeguarded.
“Additional patrols have been deployed to the area whilst we conduct further enquiries, and I would encourage anyone who has any information or concerns, to speak to our officers.”
Road Closures and Public Appeal
Stockport Road has been closed in both directions, with junctions at Kirkmanshulme Lane and Birch Lane also affected. GMP has advised drivers to avoid the area, warning of delays while forensic teams remain at the scene.
