A murder investigation is underway after a shocking triple shooting in north-west London claimed the life of a woman and left a man critically injured. The incident, described as a “heinous act of violence” by the Metropolitan Police, occurred on Saturday night around 9:15pm on Gifford Road, Brent.
The Incident
Police were called to the scene following reports of gunfire. On arrival, they found a woman in her 40s who was pronounced dead at the scene. Two men in their 30s were also injured. One remains in hospital in a critical condition, while the other sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Residents in the area described the terrifying ordeal. One witness reported seeing “bodies on the ground” and hearing “crying and screaming” amidst the chaos. The shooting occurred near the River of Life Elim Pentecostal Church, where mourners were attending a wake.
A neighbour recounted the harrowing moment:
“People came out of the church, they were at a wake and saw the bodies on the ground. I heard a lot of crying and screaming.”
Another resident shared their shock:
“My daughter came home just 10 minutes before it happened. My son thought it was fireworks, but then I heard screaming and realised it was a shooting.”
Police Investigation
Superintendent Tony Josephs of the North West Command Unit urged the community to come forward with information:
“This is a truly shocking incident. A family has been left devastated, and we need to work together to provide them with answers. If you were in or around Gifford Close at the time, or know who was responsible, please get in contact with us.”
The Metropolitan Police forensic team was at the scene on Sunday morning as officers worked to piece together the events. Road closures remain in place around Gifford Road and Creukhorne Road.
Community Concerns
The tragic incident has left local residents shaken. A Gifford Road resident, who has lived in the area since 2008, expressed their fear:
“It’s scary, it does not feel safe. I’ve never heard anything like this before.”
