Merseyside Police Investigating After Gang Targets Schoolboy in Liverpool City Centre
A teenage boy was left traumatised after being robbed inside the John Lewis Q Park car park in Liverpool city centre.
The incident occurred around 2pm on Sunday, January 19, when the victim was on the fifth floor near the lifts. He was approached by a group of around six males, who demanded his mobile phone and other possessions before fleeing the scene.
Arrest Made But Two Suspects Remain at Large
A 16-year-old boy from Liverpool has been arrested on suspicion of robbery and taken into custody for questioning. He has since been bailed pending further enquiries.
Merseyside Police are now seeking two more individuals, releasing CCTV images in hopes of identifying them.
Police Condemn ‘Shocking’ Robbery
Detective Inspector Christopher Carlin described the attack as shocking and distressing, stating:
“This was a shocking incident that left the young teenage victim traumatised. Robbery is a terrifying offence that can have a lasting impact on victims, and we take such crimes extremely seriously.”
“While we have seen a 15% reduction in personal robberies in 2024 compared with 2023, every single robbery represents a person left in fear, deprived of possessions and sometimes even physically harmed.”
“This arrest and continued appeal show our commitment to tackling robberies and anti-social behaviour. We want to ensure communities, and people who live, visit, and work in Liverpool, feel safe.”
