Family desperate for answers after 26-year-old vanishes without a trace
Fears are mounting for a young British tourist who hasn’t been seen or heard from in more than four weeks while travelling through Thailand.
Daniel Davies, 26, from Llanelli in Wales, was last seen on March 13 after arriving on the party island of Koh Phi Phi. His phone has been switched off ever since, and his loved ones say his silence is “highly out of character”.
Last spotted on infamous Koh Phi Phi before vanishing
Before disappearing, Daniel had been staying at the Hangover Hostel in Bangkok and was known to be travelling south. He is believed to have taken a boat to Koh Phi Phi — a popular hotspot known for its beach parties, fire shows and jungle raves.
That was the last anyone heard from him.
No phone, no messages, no social media updates
Daniel had been posting regular travel updates online and keeping in touch with family and friends. But after March 13, all contact stopped. There have been no phone calls, no WhatsApp messages, and no posts — his phone has remained switched off.
His family say this kind of radio silence is completely unlike him.
Missing persons report filed, but no sign of Daniel
A missing person’s report has been filed with Dyfed-Powys Police in the UK, while local authorities in Thailand have been contacted. Despite this, there has been no confirmed sighting of Daniel and no indication of his whereabouts.
The Foreign Office confirmed they are assisting his family and in contact with Thai police.
Friends launch social media appeal as search continues
Daniel’s aunt, Nicola Doran, shared an urgent appeal online. She said: “My nephew has gone missing in Bangkok, Thailand. He’s been reported and is now officially a missing person. No one has had any contact in weeks.”
Friend Lucia Froom added: “If anyone knows anyone in Thailand or is planning a trip there soon, please look out for him.”
Distinctive tattoos and six-foot frame could help identify him
Daniel is described as being around 6ft tall, slim, with blonde hair, a beard, and tattoo sleeves covering both arms. His family are urging anyone who may have seen him — either on Koh Phi Phi or elsewhere in Thailand — to come forward.
Island’s reputation raises further concern
While Koh Phi Phi is popular with young backpackers and tourists, it also has a darker side — with reports over the years of assaults, theft, and unexplained deaths.
It’s not clear whether Daniel ever left the island or whether he was seen after March 13. No movements have been confirmed since.
“We just want to know he’s okay” — family’s emotional plea
Daniel’s family say they are living through a nightmare, clinging to hope that he is safe and will be found soon.
A Foreign Office spokesperson said: “We are supporting the family of a British man who has been reported missing in Thailand and are in contact with the local authorities.”
Anyone with information is urged to contact Thai police, the British Embassy in Bangkok, or Daniel’s family directly.
