A Burnley man caught using his mobile phone while driving was stopped on the M6, leading to the discovery of £100,000 worth of Class B drugs in his car.
Routine Traffic Stop Leads to Major Drug Bust
On Wednesday, August 28, Cheshire Police officers from the Roads and Crime Unit pulled over Mark Danson, 42, of Beatrice Avenue, Burnley, after spotting him driving his grey Mitsubishi Shotgun while using his phone.
After issuing a penalty notice for the offence, officers noticed Danson appearing nervous, attempting to block access to the boot of his vehicle.
A search of the car uncovered 62.5kg of amphetamine with an estimated street value of between £40,000 and £100,000.
Danson was arrested at the scene and later claimed he was transporting the drugs to pay off a drug debt.
