Teenager jailed for biting, stabbing, strangling, punching and kicking woman

A teenage father who bit, punched, kicked, and stabbed a woman in a terrifying domestic attack has been jailed for 12 months.

Police Called to Violent Incident

On December 2, 2024, police were dispatched to Dovecrest Court, Howdon, Wallsend, following reports of a woman barricading herself in a bathroom after a domestic assault.

Upon arrival, officers were met with threats from 19-year-old Taylor Moore, who shouted from an upstairs window:

“F* off, get away from this house.”**

“Watch what will happen if you come in—you will need more people.”

“I belted her all over.”

He also threatened to set a dog on officers.

With backup support, police entered the home and arrested Moore, while his terrified victim emerged from the bathroom visibly injured.

Victim’s Harrowing Injuries

The woman, who appeared to be in shock and distress, revealed that Moore had:

Punched, kicked, and bitten her

Strangled her

Stabbed her with a kitchen knife in her left hand and upper thigh, using two knives

She was left with:

Bruising and redness to her left eye

Scratches and bruises on her head and neck

A puncture wound to her left thigh

Moore’s Arrest and Court Appearance

As he was placed in a police van, Moore continued to be verbally abusive but later told officers:

“Tell her I’m sorry for the way I acted to the point I didn’t care.”

Moore, who already had two previous convictions and was on a suspended prison sentence, pleaded guilty to:

Intentional strangulation

Assault

He was sentenced to 12 months in a young offenders institution at Newcastle Crown Court.

Judge Condemns Moore’s Actions

Sentencing him, Recorder Ian Mullarkey told Moore:

“It must have been terrifying for her, what you did to her—strangling her, attacking her with knives, assaulting her in that way.”

Defence: ‘Drugs and Alcohol to Blame’

Defending Moore, Ian Cook stated that the teenager was struggling with stress and anxiety over child contact issues and instead of seeking proper support, he “drank himself into a stupor” and consumed drugs.

Cook said Moore was deeply ashamed, adding:

“He said, ‘I never thought I would do that, I never thought I would hit a woman.’”

Moore now claims he wants to change and prove that he can be a good father.

Ongoing Domestic Abuse Awareness

This shocking case highlights the seriousness of domestic violence, particularly when alcohol and substance abuse are involved. If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic abuse, support is available through domestic violence helplines and law enforcement agencies.
