22-Year-Old’s Death Leaves Family and Community Devastated

Heartfelt tributes have been paid to 22-year-old boxer Jack Ayres, whose body was found in a water channel in Somerset, just hours after he was last seen in Street on March 3.

Jack was described as a “much-loved son, grandson, brother, cousin, nephew, and boyfriend” by his grieving family, who are desperate to understand the circumstances leading up to his passing.

Community Pays Tribute to ‘True Warrior’

Jack was a talented boxer and a respected member of Pyramid Boxing Club, which released a tribute stating:

“Jack was a friend, a family man, and a true warrior. He will never know how much we will miss him. Thoughts go out to all of Jack’s family and friends at this sad time.”

Social media has been flooded with tributes, with one comment reading:

“My beautiful boy, the heartbreak, we miss you so, so much.”

“He was an extremely talented lad, I can’t believe this.”

“Condolences to his family and friends, was an honour to share the ring with Jack twice, rest easy champ.”

Police Investigation Into Final Movements

Police were called to the water near Sharpham Drove at 1.45pm on Monday, March 3, where Jack’s body was discovered.

A post-mortem examination confirmed drowning as the preliminary cause of death, with no evidence of physical injuries.

Appeal for Information

Avon and Somerset Police are appealing for CCTV or dashcam footage to help establish Jack’s final movements.

His last known location was walking along Sharpham Drove at around 2.30am on March 3.

Detective Chief Inspector Clement Goodwin said:

“Our thoughts are first and foremost with Jack’s devastated family.”

“We want to do all we can to provide them with as many answers as possible about what happened to their son in the moments leading up to his death.”

“The lack of any physical injuries suggests the circumstances of his death are most likely to be non-suspicious, but we are treating it as unexplained while further enquiries are carried out on behalf of the coroner.”

“Any motorists who were travelling in that area during the early hours of Monday, March 3, please check any dashcam footage and come forward if you have something that can assist our enquiries.”

How to Help

Anyone with information or footage is urged to contact Avon and Somerset Police as they continue their investigation into Jack’s final moments.

Jack’s family and community remain in mourning, remembering him as a dedicated athlete and beloved friend.
