13-Year-Old Girl Charged With Murder After Body Of Woman Found

Victim Believed to Be 43-Year-Old Mother-of-Three Marta Bednarczyk

A 13-year-old girl has been charged with murder and arson following the discovery of a woman’s body inside a house that caught fire in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire.

Emergency services were called to the property on Newcomen Road shortly after 3am on Monday, where they found the victim inside.

Cause of Death Confirmed as Sharp Force Injury

Although formal identification has not yet taken place, the victim is believed to be 43-year-old mother-of-three Marta Bednarczyk.

A forensic post-mortem examination, conducted at Leicester Royal Infirmary, determined that the preliminary cause of death was sharp force injury.

Teen Suspect Set to Appear in Court

The young suspect, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested on Monday and has now been formally charged.

Detective Chief Inspector Johnny Campbell, from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit, confirmed:

“This evening we have formally charged a 13-year-old Wellingborough girl with murder and arson, and she will appear before Northampton Magistrates’ Court at 10am tomorrow.”

Investigation Ongoing as Police Secure Scene

A police scene guard remains in place, and authorities are urging the public to avoid the immediate area.

DCI Campbell added:

“I want to take a moment to thank the many police officers and staff who are working and continue to work tirelessly on this investigation since the very tragic events of early yesterday morning.”

“In particular, all our thoughts are with Marta’s family, who have been fully co-operative throughout what has been a devastating couple of days for them.”

Police have declined to comment further at this stage as the investigation continues.
