26-Year-Old Will Die in Prison After Killing Ex-Girlfriend, Her Sister, and Their Mother
Kyle Clifford, 26, has been sentenced to a whole life order, meaning he will never be released from prison, for the brutal murders of Louise Hunt, 25, her sister Hannah Hunt, 28, and their mother Carol Hunt, 61.
Clifford pleaded guilty to the murders, which took place in Bushey, Hertfordshire, in June 2024, following a major manhunt. Last week, he was also convicted of raping Louise before killing her.
Judge Condemns Clifford as ‘Jealous’ and ‘Soaked in Self-Pity’
Sentencing him at Cambridge Crown Court, Mr Justice Joel Bennathan told Clifford:
“The evidence I have heard shows you to be a jealous man, soaked in self-pity. A man who holds women in utter contempt.”
Clifford, from Enfield, north London, was sentenced for:
• Three counts of murder
• One count of rape
• One count of false imprisonment
• Two counts of possession of an offensive weapon
Hunt Family Condemns Clifford in Emotional Court Statements
The victims were the family of BBC racing commentator John Hunt, who gave a powerful statement in court, saying Clifford had earned his place in “hell”.
“When I was first invited to provide a victim impact statement, I initially misunderstood its purpose—do I really need to detail the impact of having three quarters of my family murdered?”
“Then I realised this was my final opportunity to say what I wanted to say, specifically to you, Kyle. Words that will also be directed to your family, who will carry guilt forwards with them for the rest of their lives. They knew about the weapons, they knew.”
John Hunt went on to say “the screams of hell” would be waiting for Clifford, adding:
“They’re going to roll the red carpet out for you.”
Surviving Sister: ‘You Showed Who You Really Are’
Louise and Hannah’s surviving sister, Amy, said Clifford had earned a “rightful spot in hell”, adding:
“You decided your own fragile ego and pride were more important than three beautiful, meaningful, and productive lives… you showed who you really are. For what? Because you got dumped.”
Hannah’s Partner: ‘Your Soul Will Suffer for Eternity’
Alex Klein, the partner of Hannah Hunt, also delivered a scathing statement, saying:
“Kyle, the world knows how pathetic you are, and that my Hannah stopped you in your tracks. I have no sympathy for what may happen to you and your family in the future.”
“You are nothing to me, and I have nothing but disgust for you. You are a weak and insecure little boy who compulsively lied… always looking for the easy way out rather than facing the truth. You are a coward. You simply were not good enough for an angel like Louise. Your soul will suffer for eternity.”
Clifford Refuses to Face Court for Sentencing
Despite the severity of his crimes, Clifford refused to attend his sentencing either in person or via video link.
With his whole life order confirmed, he will spend the rest of his days behind bars, never eligible for parole.
