Armed Police Swarm Talbot Green After Shocking Attack
A 40-year-old mother was shot dead on her doorstep in Talbot Green, near Cardiff, moments after a heated argument was heard outside a flat.
The horror shooting unfolded at 6:10pm on Sunday evening, leaving the quiet community in shock as armed police rushed to the scene.
The woman, who was staying at a friend’s flat, was found in a pool of blood and tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
Moments Before the Attack
Residents of a nearby old people’s complex recalled hearing shouting from an upstairs flat, followed by a single gunshot.
One local described the incident as an “assassination”, with social media quickly filled with messages of shock and horror.
A mother-of-four, who lives nearby, said:
“The woman was staying there with her son, who is aged about 10. It’s shocking, my six-year-old daughter was outside playing at the time.”
Man Arrested on Suspicion of Murder
A 42-year-old man from Talbot Green has been arrested on suspicion of murder and taken into police custody.
Detective Chief Inspector James Morris said:
“I understand the concern this will cause the local community, and I want to reassure people that a team of experienced detectives are already working at pace to piece together the events of last night.”
Police Lock Down Crime Scene
The shooting occurred at the entrance of an upstairs two-bedroom flat, owned by a local housing association.
Residents reported seeing armed officers surrounding the flats, with one describing:
“This is such a quiet place but suddenly the street was filled with police vehicles. There were flashing lights everywhere.”
Another neighbour added:
“She kept herself to herself, but we know she was a mother who had apparently parted from her partner. It is shocking.”
Community in Mourning
Local councillor Sarah Jane Davies expressed her condolences, stating:
“My heart aches this morning as I think about the tragic incident that has struck Talbot Green. My thoughts are with all who have been affected by this horrific event.”
She urged the community to support each other, adding:
