A murder investigation is underway after a 16-year-old boy was stabbed in broad daylight in the heart of Huddersfield.
Teen Attacked in Afternoon Knife Incident
Emergency services rushed to Ramsden Street just before 3pm on Tuesday after reports of a stabbing. The teenage victim was found with a serious neck injury and taken to hospital. Despite the efforts of medics, he later died from his wounds.
Man Arrested on Suspicion of Murder
West Yorkshire Police confirmed that a 20-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder. Two others – a 22-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman – were also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
Large Police Presence in Town Centre
The centre of Huddersfield remains cordoned off, with police officers seen patrolling New Street and Ramsden Street. Forensic teams have been on site gathering evidence.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
Detective Chief Inspector Damian Roebuck, who is leading the investigation, said: “This is a tragic incident where a young man has lost his life as a result of a knife injury. We have a team of dedicated detectives who are at the scene and investigating this fatal attack.”
He added: “Our initial investigations do indicate that it was an isolated incident, and local neighbourhood officers are carrying out reassurance patrols in the area.”
“I want to thank witnesses who have come forward so far and would urge anyone who witnessed the incident or has information that can help our enquiry to please come forward.”
Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses or anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage that may assist with their enquiries.
