Halloween Camping Trip Turns to Horror in Hull
A 15-year-old boy has been found guilty of the attempted murder of a girl after attacking her with a sword during a Halloween camping trip in Hull. The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, stabbed the victim ten times, leaving her with life-threatening injuries in a secluded area near the A63.
The attack took place on November 1 last year when a group of seven teenagers had gathered to camp in a field. The girl, now 14, was described as lucky to have survived after sustaining deep stab wounds to her chest, back, neck, and arms.
At Hull Crown Court, a jury returned a unanimous guilty verdict. Sentencing has been adjourned until April 4, with Judge John Thackray KC stating that he needed to assess the level of danger the defendant poses to the public. A psychological evaluation and probation report will be completed before sentencing.
Brutal Stabbing Carried Out with Samurai-Style Sword
Prosecutor David Lamb KC told the court that the teenage boy used a Kortada sword, similar in size and shape to a Samurai sword, to inflict the horrific injuries. After attacking the girl, he left her bleeding heavily in the darkness near the Humber Bridge and Clive Sullivan Way before returning to the campsite.
The boy admitted to the stabbing but claimed that a 15-year-old girl, now 16, had offered him £20 to carry out the attack following an argument between the two girls. The prosecution argued that his actions were an attempt to impress the older girl, whom he had developed feelings for.
The court heard that the girl had initially walked away from the group, but the boy followed her. He pinned her to the ground and began stabbing her as she pleaded for her life, telling him, “Please, don’t do this. Go away.” The attacker reportedly responded, “I’m sorry, but I have to do this.”

Survival and Emergency Response
Despite her severe injuries, the victim managed to escape the wooded area and wave down passing motorists on the A63, who quickly called for help. She was rushed to Hull Royal Infirmary before being transferred to a hospital in Leeds for further treatment.
The teenage defendant has been remanded in custody until the sentencing hearing next month.
